The Reception

The reception is to be held at Swinfen Hall, in Swinfen Nr. Lichfield. They chose this venue, after they had visited a wedding fair. They had gone to another wedding fair in Lichfield that day and had been told that this other wedding fair was taking place, the second they drove up the drive way Jen fell in love with Swinfen Hall and she knew that this was the place she wanted.

The Menu

During the champagne reception there will be canapés (no Col, Not Cans of peas!) They have not yet decided on the final menu for the wedding breakfast. It will be a four course sit down meal. Col loves his beef so it is more than likely that the main course will be beef! Jen is partial to salmon so the starter could include that. Battles will be fought as to what the pudding will be (don’t forget to leave room for wedding cake though!). Wine will be served with the meal and champagne supplied for the toasts. No doubt the best men will need a little ‘Dutch’ courage before the speeches. A bar will be open for the rest of the evening, however due to the amount that Jen’s staff drink (Biker Dave and Wendy) the bar will NOT be free! Hangovers will not be good enough excuses for not being at work the next day. A Buffet will be served during the evening.

The menu has now been decided for the Wedding Breakfast and the evening buffet.

Appetiser - Smoked Salmon on Toasted Brioche with Cucumber Salsa
Sorbet - Strawberry & Champagne
Main Course - Traditional Roast Sirloin of Scotch Beef with Yorkshire pudding and red wine sauce
Desert - Chocolate Tart & Strawberries with Vanilla Ice Cream
Follwed by Coffee & Petits Fours (posh word for sweets / chocolates)

Evening Buffet
A selection of Finger Sandwiches
Assorted French Bread Pizzas
Crab & Oriental Parcels
Tandoori Roast drumsticks
A Selection of Quiches
& Wedding Cake

The Cake

They have not yet settled on a design for their cake. Again they are going with quite a traditional 3 tier cake. They are aiming to personalise the cake so there is sure to be Owls and cars on it somewhere!
Jen doesn’t like fruit cake and after eating all of the samples Col couldn’t make up his mind which he liked most, so they are having all 3! A layer of Fruit cake, Sponge and Chocolate.

Entertainment

We have booked a DJ for the evening, dancing will be compulsory and you can bank on a mixture of music. If you have a request let us know on our guest book. The whole Queen back catalogue is sure to be included, and if Col has too much to drink, a Westlife tribute may make an appearance!!! Hmmmm,  tuneful. Swinfen hall has a beautiful terrace, weather permitting guests will be able to wander around the gardens and have a look at the deer. As well as this Jen and Col plan to have some other forms of entertainment. They really want to put their stamp on it so birds and cars are bound to be included. Jen’s Mom did draw the line on the Carousel that Jen wanted to hire; it was £2000 for the afternoon.
